Nicholas Brooks, black belt at Mill Hill BJJ. Four-time Europeans competitor, two-time World Masters and Seniors competitor, one-time Gracie Invitational competitor, and one-time Gracie Invitational NOGI competitor.
30.07.1966 – 14.12.2021
Nick founded Mill Hill BJJ back when he was a brown belt under Roger Gracie, in a small building called The Boat. The academy grew into the success it is today because Nick welcomed everybody and created a place where everyone wanted to be and work together as a team. As well as being the head instructor of the academy, Nick built and led the Mill Hill association, which now includes over 30 academies across Europe.
Mill Hill BJJ academy has always been well respected in the competition scene, as the instructors lead from the front and compete regularly, guided by Nick’s example. Nick himself was a two-time world champion and multiple European champion, achieving some of the highest honours in BJJ. But for Nick, it was the time spent training and competing in Brazil that really struck a chord with him.
He truly loved and lived BJJ and was often called the “BJJ encyclopedia.” He is a foundational force in UK BJJ and is missed by many around the world. His teachings and spirit live on in the many people who were fortunate to train with and know him.
